Coffee canister - A canister for holding coffee. This one is hand-built using slabs. Initially I just built the cylinder up. After the body dried a little bit, I sculpted beans to attach to the front. The initial build. The beans were sculpted individually and then attached to the body of the canister. I had meant to...

Cup with handle (at-home class) - This was one of the projects for an at-home hand-building class I took. The first project, the planter, was coiled, and this cup was my first attempt at slab building. It turned out I enjoyed slab building much more than coiling, and attaching a handle was a very important learning experience. The i...

Dog food bowl - A food bowl for my dog. Pretty simple hand-build with a paw print scraped into the center of the bowl. Lesson learned! Don't sponge on glaze. It doesn't go on nearly thick enough that way. Glazing section glaze hope outcome interior very white very white very white indeed paw print black b...

Flour scoop #2 - My husband wanted a second flour scoop to replace the table spoon he kept in the other flour container. So... here we go. Learning from the outcomes of the first one, I set out to make the wall go further down the body on this one while still coming to a nice point. I also added a small bar at the t...

Flour scoop - My husband wanted a flour scoop to replace the table spoon he kept in the flour container. So... I set out to hand-build one. This was my first on-my-own project, and it was a lot of fun trying to understand how to shape the clay to get the right final outcome. The initial build of the flour scoop....

Lidded box (at-home class) - This was one of the projects for an at-home hand-building class I took. This was the third of four projects, and by this point I was feeling confident enough to put a little bit of my own spin on things. The project instructions were to add a small ball for a handle on the lid, but I decided to buil...

1/2-cup measuring cup - Take two of the 1/2-cup measuring cup. Instead of carving a paw print on the inside, this time I decided to carve 1/2 into it instead. And after bisquing, it holds precisely 1/2 cup! The bisqued cup from the outside. The bisqued cup looking at the inside. It's glazed in glossy white, with the engrav...

Accidental shot glass - This was supposed to be a 1/2-cup measuring cup for my dog's food. When I did my math, I used the radius when I meant to use the diameter, so it's only about a quarter the size it's supposed to be. Conveniently, it's just about right for a shot glass, so whatever! The initial build, from outside. Th...

Planter (at-home class) - This was one of the projects for an at-home hand-building class I took. In fact, it was my first project, and the first time I ever worked with clay. This was hand built using coils, and it was a nightmare. I got frustrated with the coiled rows constantly being slightly larger than the rows below th...

Soapdish (at-home class) - This was one of the projects for an at-home hand-building class I took. It was another slab build, and I deviated FAR from the instructions on this one. The project brief was for a traditional soapdish, but I decided to do something different. Instead, I made this kind of curly thing that was intend...
Ideas
- lamp thing maybe?
I'm kinda thinking a big vertical tube with room in the bottom to coil a rope light, and then holes carved into the tube to let let out. I would like to have a "floating" component as well. - hinge
A functional hinge made of clay! I think it should work, and it would open up some really interesting possiblities for future builds. - teapot
I'd like to be able to heat up a bunch of water, brew a bunch of tea, and then pour cups out of it while it stays hot in the teapot. And why not try to make it myself? - bell
Some kind of bell maybe.

A flower thing - I went into the studio a few days after Christmas in kind of a bad mood. I'd had restless sleep and just wanted to be somewhere quiet and alone for a while. There were a couple of project ideas floating in my head, but nothing I was ready to start working on, so I wasn't sure what I was going to do....
